EU 2023
Sweden’s EU presidency 2023
This presidency, the third in a row for Sweden, will take place during the first half of 2023, after extended preparations. As of 2022, Swedish is part of a trio of EU countries that are responsible for driving the Council of Ministers’ work forward when it comes to enacting new laws. After the Czech Republic, which holds the presidency in the autumn of 2022, Sweden is next in line to lead the Council’s work during the first half of 2023. The incoming country responsible for the presidency inherits questions from its predecessor, but there are also opportunities for Sweden to influence the agenda during its own presidency.
