Göran works at Sida, where he is director for the department responsible for Asia, Middle East and Humanitarian Assistance. He has a PhD in Peace and Development Research (University of Gothenburg) and a licentiate's degree in Economics (Stockholm University). He has extensive experience from various managerial positions within Sida as well as from research-related activities, most recently as Director of the UNICEF Office of Research/Innocenti in Florence and before that as a researcher at the Nordic Africa Institute. In academic journals, he has published research on the conditions for social security systems in developing countries and on the socio-economic consequences of income inequality.
