Delmi has initiated and analyzed interviews with 100 people - 60 from Afghanistan and 40 from Iraq - who either had their asylum application rejected or for other reasons decided to return from Sweden. Data were collected in 2020 despite the Covid-19 pandemic and the changed security situation in the Middle East. The research results can be read in Swedish and English in the report Those who were sent back: Return and reintegration of rejected asylum seekers to Afghanistan and Iraq (2021:10). The policy brief has also been translated into Arabic, Kurdish, Pashto, and Dari.

Despite the pandemic and the security situation in Iraq and Afghanistan, we completed this AMIF-funded project, which we should be proud of.

The purpose of Delmi's research is to fill knowledge gaps in the field of migration. Through research, Delmi hopes to improve the conditions for a long-term sustainable migration policy for those who cannot stay.
