A new publication from The Migration Studies Delegation (Delmi) and The Expert Group for Aid Studies (EBA) gives an overview of what is known – and not known – about the links between migration and economic development in developing countries. The research overview gives an overview of the magnitudes and drivers of migration, and the economic consequences of migration for developing countries.
The author of the report, Robert E.B. Lucas, points to how migration can be considered in official development assistance (ODA), and also how aid can have a role in contributing to safe and orderly migration in accordance with the targets of the Global Compact for Migration (GCM) and the Global Compact on Refugees (GCR). Professor Lucas gave a presentation of the report, followed by an expert panel discussion.
