Previous research

Delmi has already studied the return process in two previous reports, the results showed that there is a great potential for improvement in the return area. The first report Those who cannot stay: Implementing return policy in Sweden (2020:1) pointed to implementation problems within Swedish administrative authorities. While the AMIF-financed Delmi report, Those who were sent back: Return and reintegration of rejected asylum seekers to Afghanistan and Iraq (2021:10), showed that return and reintegration is a difficult process with uncertain outcomes, regardless of which dimensions are measured. Few manage to be sustainably reintegrated, and several measures can be considered to improve returnees' willingness and preparedness to return as well as increase their chances of sustainable reintegration. You can read both reports and more about the work around Those who were sent back under the tabs in the right column.
